What a great idea to use up the leftover fat to make soap. Your aubergine/eggplant are amazing, I wish I could grow them but it's too cold here. A lovely reflection.sustainablemumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04099701194160334671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7957074720324686869.post-43233160297024870462015-03-06T06:05:16.438+10:002015-03-06T06:05:16.438+10:00Haha! Feels good to using a natural ingredient that would otherwise go to waste!Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10975556587020883049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7957074720324686869.post-17049364471456610042015-03-05T21:11:16.452+10:002015-03-05T21:11:16.452+10:00Glasses for chickens now that is one I have not co...Glasses for chickens now that is one I have not come across. I have just started using the soap and I find that it lathers well but not too much and the block is much harder than the olive oil soap I made so I hope that means it lasts longer too. I will be doing a follow up post in a week or so.Fiona from Arbordale Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05196630415124998431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7957074720324686869.post-59204913605921854642015-03-05T19:28:13.394+10:002015-03-05T19:28:13.394+10:00Clever use of denim for the chickens, I think the ...Clever use of denim for the chickens, I think the strangest thing I ever saw was the rose colored glasses for chickens. Apparently the pink lenses kept the chickens from noticing blood on each other and kept them from pecking and pulling at each other. They look like little prince nez glasses. It may work a charm but it makes your flock look a little odd. Love that you are making soap with your own animal fat - do you find that it is a lot different than other fats people use? Interesting post, fun to read!Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18209722078916803400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7957074720324686869.post-70220522290597310302015-03-04T22:07:41.891+10:002015-03-04T22:07:41.891+10:00Suzie I just rendered (melted) the fat and straine...Suzie I just rendered (melted) the fat and strained it to get rid of the meaty bits then used it with the caustic soda and water using my normal method and that's it. Soap making is not hard but you need to be careful and precise.Fiona from Arbordale Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05196630415124998431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7957074720324686869.post-52378762078779539532015-03-04T22:04:37.857+10:002015-03-04T22:04:37.857+10:00Thanks Kathy I really like being able to look back...Thanks Kathy I really like being able to look back on all the little things that made up the month.Fiona from Arbordale Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05196630415124998431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7957074720324686869.post-69696648840673314472015-03-04T20:00:35.422+10:002015-03-04T20:00:35.422+10:00The soap looks great Fiona...how did you use the a...The soap looks great Fiona...how did you use the animal fat?...also love your wall art....
