I reckon it must be close since on the internet the record of the smallest chicken egg that I could find is
2.7 cm. And at 14 grams that is pretty small. I wonder if there is any speck of yolk?
Ah I had one of these last year. Apparently they're called fairy eggs. I blogged about it too http://veggiegobbler.blogspot.com.au/2011/09/teeniest-chook-egg-ever-laid-in.html. And then I contacted the local papers! And several journalists wanted to come and interview me and take a photo! But then I got cold feet and felt embarrasses at the thought of being known as the teen egg lady. Will you see what's in it? Mine had no yolk.

ReplyDeleteYes VG I remember now. I am not sure I will be calling the paper either.
DeleteHaha cute, it would look adorable as a fried egg on toast although you may want something extra on the side!
ReplyDeleteYou are not wrong
Deleteooooh fairy eggs, that's so cute. Was it from a pullet (first egg) or an old hen after molting?
ReplyDeleteLiz it could be either but I am not really sure.
DeleteI had a couple of those last year as well, no yolk, just egg whites, it's very cute when they lay those.
